Our homepage only uses technically necessary cookies. No information is collected or passed on to third parties.
When you visit our website, we generally do not need any personal data from you. We only take note of information about the name of your internet service provider and the pages you access on our site. As an internet user, you remain anonymous, since we only evaluate this information for statistical purposes (e.g. the number of visits to individual pages). Personal data such as company, name, street, postal code, city, country, phone, fax, or email address is only collected if you provide it voluntarily – for example, when registering for an event, subscribing to a newsletter, or using our contact form. You may also use alternative communication channels (e.g. postal mail or fax) that offer greater security.
Any personal data we learn about you through your use of our website will only be collected, processed and used for the stated purpose (e.g. responding to inquiries, registering for events and newsletters, processing contracts, providing services, etc.). We ensure this only happens within the scope of applicable law or with your consent. All employees and subcontractors are generally bound in writing to data protection under the EU GDPR. This also applies when newsletters are sent via third-party providers.
You may object in writing to the storage and use of your data for the future at any time. Your data will be deleted as soon as you object to its use or it is no longer needed for the stated purpose. Excluded from this is data required for billing and accounting purposes. Personal data submitted for processing job applications is not passed on to third parties. If an application is unsuccessful, all data received is deleted and you will be informed of the deletion by email. If application documents are needed for processing for longer than three months, we will ask for your consent by email. Clicking on a job posting redirects you to the GDPR-compliant career portal of HR-Works. The data remains available exclusively to public edge GmbH, and public edge GmbH’s data protection provisions continue to apply.
If you have further questions about data protection, you can contact our data protection officer.
We, public edge GmbH, Bornheimer Straße 42-52, 53111 Bonn, email: office@public-edge.de, are the data controller. Contact details of the data protection officer: address as above, “c/o Birgit Strahl”, email: datenschutz@public-edge.de.
We process data that we receive from our business relationship with you. We receive this data directly from you, e.g. in the course of preparing a quote or placing an order. Specifically, we process the following data: master data (e.g. name, address and contact details of the prospect, contractor, or client), correspondence (e.g. written exchanges with you), marketing and sales data (e.g. products that may be of interest to you).
Below we inform you about the purposes and legal basis for our processing of your data.
We process your data to perform our contracts with you and to carry out your orders. The specific purposes of data processing depend on the particular product and the contract documents.
We may also use your data based on a balancing of interests to safeguard the legitimate interests of us or of third parties. This is done for the following purposes: asserting legal claims and defense in legal disputes, prevention and investigation of criminal offenses, and ensuring IT security and IT operations. Our interest in the respective processing arises from these purposes and is otherwise of an economic nature (efficient performance of tasks, sales, avoidance of legal risks). Where the specific purpose allows, we process your data in pseudonymized or anonymized form.
Where you have given us consent to process personal data, that consent forms the legal basis for the processing described therein.
In addition, the following parties may receive your data: processors engaged by us (Art. 28 GDPR), particularly in the areas of IT services, logistics and printing services, who process your data on our behalf and under our instructions; public authorities and institutions where there is a legal or regulatory obligation to do so.
Where necessary, we process your personal data for the duration of our business relationship, which also includes the initiation and performance of a contract. In addition, we are subject to various retention and documentation obligations arising, among others, from the German Commercial Code (HGB) and the Fiscal Code (AO). The retention or documentation periods specified there range from two to ten years. Finally, the storage period is also determined by statutory limitation periods, which, for example under §§ 195 et seq. of the German Civil Code (BGB), are generally three years but in certain cases can be up to thirty years.
Your data is not transferred.
Subject to the respective statutory requirements, you have the right to information (Art. 15 GDPR, § 34 Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) as amended from 25 May 2018), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR, § 35 BDSG), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), and data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR, § 19 BDSG).
Within the scope of our business relationship, you only need to provide the personal data required to establish, carry out and terminate a business relationship, or which we are legally obliged to collect. Without this data, we will generally be unable to conclude the contract or carry out the order, or will be unable to continue performing an existing contract and may need to terminate it.
For reasons arising from your particular situation, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you that is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (processing based on a balancing of interests). This also applies to profiling based on this provision within the meaning of Art. 4 No. 4 GDPR, which may, for example, be carried out for customer advice, support and sales purposes. If you object, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to assert, exercise or defend legal claims.
Within the scope of legal provisions, we may also process your data for direct marketing purposes. You have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you for the purposes of such marketing. This also applies to profiling insofar as it is connected with such direct marketing. If you object to processing for direct marketing purposes, we will no longer process your personal data for these purposes. The objection may be made in any form. Our contact details can be found under item 1.
