100% public business, between administration and technology.
This is where we belong.
We work exclusively for the public sector. No side business, no compromise: public authorities, municipalities, universities, state agencies and public institutions are not one customer segment among many, they are our only one.
We advise contracting authorities on selecting, procuring and rolling out modern IT solutions, with a clear focus on digital sovereignty, security and architecture decisions that hold up long-term.
public edge emerged from H&G Hansen & Gieraths IT Solutions GmbH. We support contracting authorities in planning, procuring and modernising their digital infrastructure. Our team of 45+ people works from our headquarters in Bonn and our offices in Berlin, Meerbusch, Mannheim and Nuremberg for clients across federal, state and local government, universities and public institutions.
The new name is not a reinvention, it is a clarification. It describes what has always defined us: we work at the intersection of what modern administration needs and what modern technology can do.
What has stayed the same: the same people, the same client relationships and the same responsibility for decisions that public organisations have to live with for years.
We see ourselves as a bridge between contracting authorities, technology manufacturers and the market.
We do not build proprietary platforms and we do not pursue a vendor agenda. Our job is to understand requirements, evaluate options transparently and clear the path to the right solution. Technology is not an end in itself for us. What matters is that it meets our clients’ functional, organisational and economic requirements.
The foundation of digital sovereignty lies in the data center.
Contracting authorities face the challenge of keeping infrastructure secure, cost-effective and independent over the long term, while the number of technologies, platforms and vendors keeps growing.
We provide orientation in this market. We assess architectures, compare approaches, and support procurement decisions around storage, backup, virtualisation, container platforms and modern datacenter infrastructure.
Our goal is not vendor lock-in but infrastructure that fits the organisation’s requirements and secures its ability to act, long-term.
Today the digital workplace is far more than an operating system and an office suite.
Public organisations have to combine security, user acceptance, cost-effectiveness and digital sovereignty. There is rarely a standard solution for that.
We help evaluate platforms, vendors and approaches, and build a solid basis for decisions on procurement and transformation, always viewing technology in the context of the organisation, its processes, and the people who use it every day.
Not every administration needs the same workplace. But every administration needs a well-founded decision.
Artificial intelligence is moving faster than most technology cycles in the public sector.
Between international hyperscalers, European alternatives, open-source models and regulatory requirements, a market has emerged that is hard to keep track of.
We help contracting authorities assess opportunities and risks realistically. We compare platforms, vendors and infrastructure approaches, helping select solutions that enable innovation without giving up control, transparency or digital sovereignty.
Our ambition is to turn technological possibilities into decisions that hold up.
Expertise is not built on vendor certificates alone. It is built by people who understand administration, procurement and technology. Our team combines years of public-sector experience with deep technical knowledge.

Our advice starts with what is actually needed, not with which products should be sold. If the simpler solution is the better one, we recommend the simpler solution.
We know the processes, deadlines and requirements of public procurement. From market research through specifications to expert support during the tender process, we help contracting authorities procure lawfully and effectively.
We work with leading manufacturers and still stay independent in our recommendations. Technology decisions must follow requirements, not vendor strategies.
Public-sector IT has a long lifecycle. That is why we value traceable concepts, clean documentation and structured knowledge transfer. Our goal is solutions that remain understandable, traceable and extensible even years later.
We say openly when a timeline is not realistic, when risks are being underestimated, or when requirements do not make technical sense. An honest discussion up front beats expensive surprises later.
These are the standards we work to, audited annually and fully documented.
As an IT service provider for the public sector, we bear special responsibility for protecting sensitive data and systems. Our company-wide information security management system (ISMS) was certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 on 28 February 2025 – with the Statement of Applicability (SoA) containing no exclusions.
Certified to ISO 9001 since 2019. The foundation is the continuous identification, management and optimization of all relevant business processes – with the clear goal of steadily improving our workflows and ensuring customer satisfaction.
